Trying to keep warm

Todays photo of the day

A male sparrow.

There has been flocks of sparrows in the garden today but not a lot of any thing else.
The squirrels are calling everyday but not stopping long, I think they are just coming when they are really hungry and then staying in the rest of the time keeping warm.
The weather is not nice I cannot keep warm, even with my "onesie" on. (yes I have joined the club I am the owner of some onesies and very warm and comfy they are too.) The only problem with them comes when you need to go to the toilet, I over came that problem I bought them a couple of sizes too big to allow for movement but also to allow room to wear my pj's underneath. This way there is no baring of body or getting cold when in the bathroom.

A family portrait.

The Starlings family portrait.
I can just imagine the conversation, "come on boys, sit nicely, heads up, stop messing about. This ones for the christmas card."

Oh come on it's nearly christmas, every shop you go in are playing christmas carols, there are trees in windows, my neighbour has flashing lights in her garden which are blue, the first time  saw them I thought the dozy mare upstairs next door had called an ambulance again.

Oh well not to worry.

It's not every day is it?

I know what I said yesterday about not putting on photo's of squirrels, but what can I do? They are just so cute and photogenic.

Not cute, but pretty.

I am trying so hard not to put a picture of a squirrel on every day, it is so easy to do it because there is always so many photos of cute squirrels. So I am not going to put one on today, today you are getting a...

Collar Dove
A pretty bird, not as cute as a squirrel in my opinion but pretty.
We still have groups of between 6 - 14 of these birds in our garden most days.

A little bit of tolerance

Mandona is beginning to tolerate Rusty, she allows him to sit on the fence now while she eats from the table. Before she would have chased him away as soon as he appeared. Pretty Boy does not seem to be calling as much at the moment I wonder if he is getting pushed out a little.

Small bird and a long lens

Today I spotted a garden resident that I have not seen for a few months, A little Jenny Wren. I could hear the wren before I could see her. I first saw her on the ivy but could not get a shot of her there as she kept disappearing deep inside. The next time I spotted her she was on the big sycamore tree at the bottom of the garden, I was in the shed so the sycamore was not too far away for the 150 - 500mm lens to capture her. I still had to crop the picture but I am pleased with the end result.

It's official...

It's a boy, I know you have all been dying to know. Well the wait is over, it is official, the third squirrel is a boy.

Meet Rusty.

I decided against Russ and named him Rusty instead to avoid any complications in the future.

(I thought if I wrote Russ was hanging from the crossbar in all his glory this morning, someone might choke on their coffee knowing I have a brother called Russ. After all we are a bit of a strange family.)

So anyhow the squirrels all have names Mandona is the only female, Pretty Boy and Rusty both males. I am already thinking about what to do if we get any more, Tony thinks I should catch them and dab them with paint.

Until tomorrow...
