Strange and wonderful sights...

Tony and I have not been venturing far, except for hospital and doctors appointments, we have had no wish to go out in the cold.
Lynsey is complaining of the cold every day on her way home from work, then complaining again when she gets home because it costs too much to put the heating on.
No matter what you say you can't win. so she will just have to keep warm with her furry hot water bottles, Pepper and Biscuit.
We had a visit from the Sparrow Hawk about a week ago, the Hawk had chased some small birds across the garden but had not managed to catch any. He sat on the fence for a while waiting to see if any would return to the garden, (he is obviously not a very clever Hawk). He moved onto the shed roof for a quick look into the neighbours garden, saw nothing in there then off he went to look elsewhere for food.

We had a very strange looking sky one evening, I often look at the sky because I like clouds and the shapes they make. It had become quite dull and I just thought I would have a last look at the sky. When I looked I was taken by surprise because I can honestly say I have never seen it look this colour before.

On a visit to the local Retail Park, Tony spotted some fungi, I have looked in my book and I  think it is an Orange Grisette. However, I could be wrong so if anyone know better please let me know

ORANGE GRISETTE.

Robin was attacking something a rew days ago, we had called up at GO OUTDOORS, Tony needs some new socks. Robin was jumping up and down, pouncing on his prey, he looked really pleased with himself. When we got into the car I could see he had an enormous worm. Robin looked at me as if to say "look at this snake I just killed".

We called up to see Elvira, she doesn't get out much either. We had a cup of tea with her and a chat, Tony asked if she could take us to a hospital appointment next week, it gives Elvira and I chance to look round the shops together.
When we left Elvira stood looking out of the window,

The face of fear.

Yesterday I had to go and collect my tablets from the chemist. So we did a bit of shopping while we were out. As we were driving along the road to go onto the retail park, a body suddenly launched itself from the hedge and into the road. He dropped his shopping bag, gave us a look of horror and continued to run. The security guard was running after the man but it was obvious that the man was not going to be caught. Tony had accidentally driven over the bag that the thief had dropped on the road, we knew the bag was stuck under the car.
We drove onto the car park and told the staff the bag was there, one of them got down on his knees and pulled it out. The security guard was pleased  to have his stock back, not pleased enough to say thank you. However some other members of staff did say thank you.

The Face of Fear.

The picture is not very good it has been taken from a car camera.

I don't know what to say?

It is so long since I wrote a blog that I just don't know what to say! I  have no excuse, I just didn't seem to find the time than after so long I just couldn't be bothered.  I have been a bit down, however, I am not sure why so I have decided to begin again. Quite a few things have happened since I last wrote.
Lynsey has been away to The Netherlands and Germany with work, she enjoyed it, but managed to injure herself. Lynsey  came home with a pair of crutches and a small cast on her leg. She had fallen on some stairs in Germany and had damaged some tendons in her ankle.
Lynsey went to Pinderfields because she had a lot of pain in her leg. They x-rayed it again but could not find any breaks. Lynsey was given a larger cast, like a big black boot that came up to just below her knee. She said that felt better but it still hurt.

Emma has passed her driving test, she is very pleased with this because it means she can share the driving when the family take any holidays. I am very proud of her.

Tony is waiting for an operation on his back, this should make his legs better, which means he will be able to walk more. We are both a bit worried about this operation and the waiting is not helping.

Garden Update.
The garden is a little bit quiet at the moment, however we have 3 squirrels, occasionally 4 still causing havoc we also have a male, female, and 2 juvenile great spotted woodpeckers calling. There are the usual small birds as well but they just seem to be very few visits.

We have been to Scotland and actually found somewhere to stay that told the truth! We had red squirrels right outside the door.

This feeder is straight opposite the door, there was 3 different squirrels that came to feed. We know this because of the markings

The squirrel above has some sort of growth on its nose.

The squirrel above has part of his ear missing.

It was amazing to get out of bed on a morning and see these delightful creatures just outside your door.

There was also a Red Legged Partridge that came to sit on the fence at the front of the cottage.

Every day this bird would appear about 6pm, it would sit there just looking round for a while. Then it would jump down onto the grass peck and scratch around for a few minutes, then walk away around the side of the cottage and to the owners house.

There were also some deer that walked down the path at the side of the cottage and into the paddock at the bottom of the drive. I didn't get any pictures of these but Tony did.

Well I found something to say.

Until the next time.

2019 That crept up on me...

So bah humbug season is over, it wasn't too bad we survived it again. The new year crept in quietly when I wasn't paying attention, lets hope this one will bring us better health than the last one. Having said that Tony has to go for the scan results he had done just before christmas on monday. I am back at the dentist on thursday ( the abscess has gone along with the tooth ), to have a check up and a broken tooth looked at. I think that one will be going as well.

The garden had a flock of Redwings but neither Tony or I managed to get a photo they were just too well camouflaged in  the tree. The Sparrowhawk has been back a couple of times, no pictures there either.
There are some photos though, the new year would not be the same without some squirrels.

A selection of Squirrels.
