An accident waiting to happen

I have to ask, why can't these people ride on pavements?
Instead of putting themselves at risk on the road?

Today's photo of the day

The mobility scooter.
A great invention but a hazard when used on the public road.

They must be quackers

For the last few years there have been ducks nesting on a retail park on Ings Road in Wakefield.
This year there are still a pair of ducks nesting.

Today's photo of the day

A pair of Mallards at home on the Retail Park.

I am not showing the exact place of the nest as you never know who is around that might just upset the ducks.

I thought there was only one!

I was happy to see the young Blackbird in the garden again today, he/she had made a comfy place to lay.

I saw the young Blackbird again a little while later in the shallow dish I put  out for the squirrels to drink from

I carried on watching the garden and snapping away when ever I saw something, I spotted the young Blackbird again.

Mr Blackbird was with him/her, he looked as if he wanted to take the young one with him. When I looked up again they had gone.
I decided it was time to pack up my things. I put most of my things away ready to go, I looked out of the window and I could not believe what I saw.

Today's photo of the day

Mr Blackbird with 3 young Blackbirds.

all along there had been not 1 but 3 young Blackbirds in the garden, no wonder Mr Blackbird had been looking so tired just lately.

A visit from a finch

The garden has been a little bit quiet just lately. I think the sparrowhawk is about again along with a few cats.
There are a few starlings with young ones of varying ages, we have sparrows but not a lot else.
We did have a visit from some finches this morning.

A beautiful, really vibrant coloured bird.

Another addition to the garden

Today we have another addition to the garden, a baby Blackbird made a debut appearance this afternoon. The young Blackbird had a good look round the garden exploring every nook and cranny. Closely followed by dad. Mr Blackbird followed his offspring every step of the way, he was never more than a couple of inches behind. The young blackbird led dad a merry dance rushing from corner to corner, then up on the fence, back down onto the floor, up into a bush, back on the fence, then back to the water, back on the fence and last I saw it disappeared into next doors garden.

The latest edition to the garden.

Mr Blackbird returned to the garden later alone to enjoy a quiet snack.

He always enjoys an apple.

Tethered birds and a wild deer

Today we went to Knaresborough Castle, we saw the castle Ravens while we were there.

They are lovely birds but it is a shame to see them tethered.

As well as the two ravens there is another bird. It is a Mourdour also known as an African Pied Raven or a Pied Crow.

Another beautiful bird also spoilt by being tethered.

I almost used these pictures for my picture of the day but decided against it and decided instead to use a photo of a truly free animal,

Today's photo of the day
